We’re not fools; we know that not everyone has welcomed Wrexham’s promotion. In fact, many fans of opposing teams and even those who haven’t played Wrexham in a very long time are likely rooting for Wrexham to fail. That’s what happens when you have two Hollywood owners and a documentary series. We can only imagine what supporters of Tranmere Rovers are saying, and James McClean has now addressed them.
In March, McClean expressed his displeasure after he saw Tranmere replacement Jean Belehouan wildly celebrating the team’s 1-0 victory over Wrexham.
After Wrexham’s promotion, McClean sent a message to Tranmere, calling Belehouan “embarrassing.”
In an Instagram post after Saturday’s victory, the Irishman said that playing for Wrexham this season has been a “absolute pleasure” since joining the team last summer.
After that, McClean joked that teams like Newport County, Accrington Stanley, and Tranmere could rejoice by taking home the “we beat Wrexham cup.”
“Thank you for winning the Wrexham Cup this season, Newport, Accie, and Tranmere. Enjoy your celebrations, and we hope you enjoy ours,” McClean stated.
Ben Tozer and Mullin were both laughing away in the comments whilst Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Humphrey Ker all supported his message.
