Due to an incident that closed a crucial section of the A21 near Tunbridge Wells, drivers had to deal with high gridlock. Near Pembury, on the southbound lane between the A228 and A26 intersections, there was a reported collision.

Throughout the afternoon, both lanes of the southbound carriageway were restricted, which resulted in heavy traffic building up on approach. At the time, National Highways reported delays in the vicinity of at least ten minutes.

A car was involved in the collision, according to Inrix, a traffic and travel monitoring firm. Whether or not any other vehicles were involved, as well as any injuries, are yet unknown.
