A double death probe has been launched after police discovered the bodies of two men at a property in Newcastle.

Emergency services received a report of concern for two men, aged 59 and 60, after they failed to attend appointments.

Officers responding to the report forced entry to the home in Welbeck Road, Newcastle, on Friday afternoon and discovered two bodies inside.

Both deaths are currently being treated as unexplained as forensic officers and plain-clothed detectives carry out enquiries at the scene, Chronicle Live reports.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 2pm on Friday, officers received a report of concern for the welfare of two men who had failed to attend appointments and had not been seen for a period of time.

“Police subsequently attended an address on Welbeck Road in Walker. Sadly the men, aged 59 and 60, were found to be deceased.
