Today, Tuesday, March 19, 2024, saw a man condemned at the High Court in Edinburgh for major sexual abuse charges against minors in the Argyll region.
Following a 12-year prison sentence, 42-year-old Benjamin Young was granted an Order of Lifelong Restriction (OLR).
The National Child Abuse Investigation Unit of Police Scotland’s Detective Inspector Adrian Ure stated: “The seriousness and scope of Benjamin Young’s sexual offences were absolutely horrifying.
“Young bears direct responsibility for the demand he created, which in turn fuels the horrifying sexual assault and suffering of the children seen in the pictures and films he shared and produced.
After a protracted investigation, detectives worked nonstop, and as a direct result, Young will now justly get a jail sentence and pay for his acts.
“The sentence in the OLR is distinct. It consists of two parts: a lifelong risk management plan and a minimum sentence of jail known as the punishment part. The OLR is a real lifelong punishment intended to keep the general public safe from grave danger.
“Police Scotland considers child sexual abuse of any kind to be a serious criminal offence and a top priority. We urge anyone who has suspicions about a kid who might be abused or who might become a victim to get in touch with Police Scotland right away.
