An Garda Siochana are investigating the circumstances around the woman’s death

In Monaghan town, a lady in her 20s whose body was found in the Ulster Canal is thought to be from Northern Ireland.

After the woman’s body was found in the canal at 8.30 am on St. Patrick’s Day, the 23-year-old’s death is being investigated by the Garda Siochana.

An Garda Siochana officers looking into the death have scheduled a postmortem examination; according to the police, the findings of the postmortem will dictate the course of the probe.

The circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in County Monaghan on Sunday, are being looked into by the GardaĆ­, according to a statement.

At around 8:30 am, the body of a lady in her 20s was found in Monaghan town, near the Ulster Canal.

Since then, the body has been taken from the scene and placed in the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan.

The results of a postmortem examination, which has been scheduled, will dictate how the Garda inquiry is conducted.
