A picture of the woman who died in a car accident in County Antrim earlier this week has been made public by the police.

On Tuesday evening, a single car incident on the Cushendall Road near Ballymena claimed the life of Eileen Thornton, 44, a resident of the Glarryford area.

After being admitted to the hospital, Ms. Thornton died.

According to her death announcement, she was the “loving sister” of Gareth, Gregory, and the larger family circle, as well as the “much loved” daughter of David and the late Angela.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Police reissued their need for information on Thursday and released a photo of Ms. Thorton.

“Anyone who may have information that could help with our investigation, or who may have been travelling through the area at the time and captured any dash-cam or other footage, is still encouraged to get in touch with the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s collision investigation unit by calling 101 and quoting reference number 1515 03/09/24.”

This week, there have been two fatalities on Northern Ireland’s roadways due to tragedies.

Online tributes to Ms. Thornton were posted earlier this week, and many individuals spoke of the shock and grief that followed her untimely passing.

“I’ve known her for years; my thoughts are with her father Davy, her brothers Gregory and Garth, and the rest of the family circle; rest in peace, Eileen,” wrote one acquaintance in response to hearing the terrible news.
“Devastating news to hear, can’t take it in. I’ve known her since she was a little girl and I lived beside her,” another person commented. Considering the entire family throughout this difficult period.

“We are waking up to another tragedy on our roads within a 24-hour period,” UUP councillor Alan Barr stated.

“The woman’s family, friends, and the emergency services who responded to the scene are in my thoughts and prayers.”
