All traffic on the A2 near has been stopped due to a ‘serious’ two vehicle crash. The incident happened on the A2 London bound near Strood at around 4.15pm today. National Highways (@HighwaysEAST) urged motorists on X (formally known as Twitter) to expect delays and find alternative routes if possible. It confirmed that all emergency services including an air ambulance are currently at the scene. Both carriageways have been closed which is causing miles of congestion and long delays in the area.

It is unknown how many people were involved in the incident.

“Kent Police was called at approximately 4.15pm on Friday, May 31, 2024 following a serious collision involving two vehicles on the A2 London-bound near Gravesend,” a spokesman for the police agency stated.

“Both carriageways have been closed to allow the air ambulance to land on the coastbound side, and officers are currently on duty.”

“Drivers are urged to anticipate delays and, if feasible, find alternate routes.”
