Throughout the afternoon, there was a lot of traffic.
This afternoon (October 24), a collision on the A256 between Sandwich and Thanet prompted a significant emergency services response. A multi-vehicle collision at Cliffsend had stopped the northbound carriageway of the A256 Richborough Way.
The incident, which occurred near the Sevenscore roundabout where the A256 and A299 meet, was initially reported at approximately 12.30 p.m. Long lines had formed on approach, according to traffic cameras in the region at the time, and there was a significant emergency services reaction.
Kent Police officers joined paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service at the scene of the collision, which involved three vehicles. One person had to be flown from the scene, and three others were hurt and treated at a nearby hospital.
According to KCC Highways, the collision also resulted in an oil spill, thus the northbound A256 remained closed at its intersection with the Sevenscore roundabout throughout the afternoon. Shortly after 3 p.m., the road had reopened and traffic was flowing normally again.
