Following the 2-2 draw with Stevenage, Carlisle United supporters shared their opinions with us on social networking site X. Below is a collection of those remarks.

That one was really harsh. Lots of fantastic stuff, however it was ruined by the old legs. Standing on their feet, Armstrong and Charters gazed out. (@thervd)

encouraging performance, with a few players demonstrating why they plan to return next year, but it eventually failed due to the late equaliser. We ought to have concluded them sooner to avoid a great deal of the negative feedback from the fans. (@tim_martland)

Benefits: Butterworth, Neal, and Ellis all put up performances worthy of starting spots in the upcoming season. Two excellent objectives Negatives: bad ball control when in possession, especially in the closing minutes; awful finishing (Butterworth excluded). Please, from now on, breeze into the goal. (@MikeEwins)

I thought we would give up again the moment they made a move back. A few adjustments were also necessary because some team members were exhausted. Regretfully, there were some positive indications of life today. (@DJGale1983)

Stevenage appeared to have one chance, and they managed to secure a point despite it. Penalty for a careless tackle. CUFC ought to have had additional objectives. Charters hesitated to on the pitch and expressed surprise that Diamond and another player for Butterworth & Armstrong failed to score. Generally speaking, passing better (@OliverWarnes)

Much better than before, finally some urgency and direct football. Due to our awful finishing, we should have scored at least five goals today. We’re devastated that Stevenage got off the hook. I am worried about Lewis because, in my opinion, he is not an improvement over our current situation. (@peterjo91525330)

Overall, much better. We had seventy-five minutes on top. We just can’t seem to finish a game correctly. I did, at least, feel that I played well for the majority of the match. Steve Evans appeared content and relieved that Stevenage had been exonerated. Unfortunately, his outbursts are invaluable (@AyeCumbrian).

When we play Stevenage, an old foe, on a day when Butterworth plays a little bit and we appear to be a team that is not stuck in the bottom, we horribly blow a comfortable 2-0 lead. Much too relaxed in the second half, as the MF vanished and the defending ultimately fell short (@LindaNi121202)

Afterwards, Derek Mountfield advised us to “just kick it into row z that late on.” Sadly, this was not the case; although Armstrong and Butterworth had a great connection, we still managed to lose (@keithelliott94).

My four-year-old and I travelled there for his first game; the club was excellent, but he isn’t a talisman. They were ours to take, therefore we should have won that. (Kris Foster)

Let’s concentrate on the fact that we are presently winning games. At least the first one indicates that we have a season-long goal that wasn’t a free kick from a deceased player (@JHallHDI).

At 2-0, one substitution was made.Though that ending is on him, I fully believe in Simmo (@Invisiblebear84).

Fantastic subs once more…If they had taken a chance, Diamond and Armstrong might have made it around 5-0 (@Luke05766427)

Never had as many opportunities all season to be out of sight, could have, and should have. Butterworth was excellent; he mowed down all the grass. A very poor Stevenage gets a point from a dubious pen that we never receive and then panic stations. Lewis lacks trust in me; I’d much rather have Breeze (@ericgreen866)

Mellish ought to have cleared the area before our penalty was given (@Joecufc2006)

Disappointed and without words (@lizmoore57)

played well enough to predict victory. Regardless of what bedwetters tell you, that’s progress. (@ostrichtowe)
