With several additions made last summer and in January, Erol Bulut significantly bolstered the roster. If the Bluebirds are to make a run for the play-offs in the 2024–2025 season, more signings this summer will be necessary.

It’s obvious that the Bluebirds will need to bolster their depth at striker and in defence this summer as several aspects of Erol Bulut’s team appear thin.

In light of that, Cardiff City should be keeping an eye out for these five feasible additions this summer.

Paddy McNair

This summer, Paddy McNair, a player for Northern Ireland, will have his contract with Middlesbrough end, making him a free agent.

The 29-year-old would be a fantastic addition to most teams at this level due to his extensive experience playing in the Championship; Cardiff, in particular, could use a center-back this summer.

Nat Phillips, who was on loan to the Bluebirds, is scheduled to return to parent club Liverpool this summer. A move to Leeds United has been suggested, and McNair’s calibre and experience would be a tremendous asset to the Bluebirds.

Lee Buchanan

Birmingham City left-back Despite Blues’ dismal season, Lee Buchanan, who only joined the team last summer, has distinguished himself for the team. Blues is situated in St Andrews.

Josh Wilson-Esbrand, a left-back, was signed by Cardiff on a short-term loan from Manchester City in January. However, the Bluebirds will need to find a new defender because Wilson-Esbrand’s current loan period ends at the end of the current campaign.

Although Jamilu Collins is also a member of Cardiff’s roster, the Welsh capital hasn’t seen much of the left-back, thus Buchanan’s kind of left-back should be on the Bluebirds’ wish list this summer.

Liam Delap

This summer, Cardiff will undoubtedly need a striker, and Liam Delap is the ideal candidate. The Manchester City player has been on loan at Hull City for the season, and he has done well for the Tigers.

The 21-year-old has recently gained some much-needed first-team experience, and as Cardiff looks to add at least one attacker this summer, he might be a good fit for a loan move.

Erol Bulut will try to fix this issue this summer. Although the Bluebirds have a number of attackers on their roster, none of them have been very successful this season.

Cody Drameh

Drameh, a well-known figure to Cardiff City supporters, impressed them with his performances and attitude while out on loan at the Cardiff City Stadium during the second half of the 2021–2022 season.

The Leeds United player, who joined Birmingham City on loan, struggled to establish himself in the Whites’ starting lineup.

With Mahlon Romeo out of favour under Bulut this season, the right-back would provide something new to the rest of Cardiff’s defenders as well as some much-needed depth behind Perry NG.
