M25 Dartford Tunnel recap as QE2 shuts after motorbike crash

A motorbike crash on the M25 shut the Dartford Tunnel this morning. The road was completely blocked, with queuing traffic on the major route.

The accident is said to have had a motorcyclist involved, according to traffic reporting system INRIX. All traffic heading clockwise on the M25 was stopped this morning just after 10.25am.

There was congestion from J1b A296 (Dartford) to J2 A2 (Darenth Interchange), but there were areas where traffic was completely stationary, with queues spreading up to the QE2 bridge and all the way back to Lakeside. There were delays of up to 15 minutes on top of expected traffic.

The event was expected to clear between 12.45 and 1pm today, according to Traffic England. Police and ambulance services have been contacted in relation to this incident.

The traffic has now returned to normal.

There is still traffic from J30 A13 (Lakeside / Purfleet) to J1a A206 (Dartford) after the earlier accident. Traffic is easing.

There are still incredibly long delays. After a full hold on traffic for over 30 minutes all lanes have reopened.
