Following a collision on the M62 this morning that left a 47-year-old man with potentially fatal injuries, he was taken to the hospital by ambulance. On Saturday (September 21), following reports of the significant incident, emergency personnel were dispatched to the freeway.
According to West Yorkshire Police, at four in the morning, a white DAF HGV struck the man as it was traveling along the M62. It is thought that the collision happened on the westbound carriageway in West Yorkshire, close before junction 29.
The man has been taken to hospital and his injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
National Highways says that the M62 is still closed, according to YorkshireLive. “As a result of a police-led incident, the M62 in West Yorkshire is closed westbound between J30 Oulton and J29 M1,” the statement stated.
“Trapped traffic is now being unloaded. Traffic management is being handled on the scene by police and National Highways Traffic Officers.”
West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian on the M62 earlier today.
“It happened just before 4am, when a 47-year-old man was in collision with a white DAF heavy goods vehicle as it travelled along the motorway, just before Junction 29 of the Westbound carriageway. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are believed to be life threatening.”
