Law enforcement commend courage of survivor A man from Peterborough, who confessed to assaulting a woman, has received a sentence of over six years in prison. Luke Carr, 29, committed the crime several years back.

At first, he refused to admit to the accusations, but once his genetic material was found on the victim, he confessed to the crime of rape.

At Peterborough Crown Court on Friday (14 June), Carr from Tilton Court, Peterborough, received a sentence of six years and three months in prison.

DC Rosie McKenzie expressed satisfaction that Carr admitted guilt, sparing the victim the distress of recounting the incident in court.

She demonstrated remarkable courage in pursuing this matter to its conclusion, and I am content that justice has been served.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage anyone who believes they may have been a victim of any form of sexual abuse to report it to us. We will always treat you with the utmost sensitivity and respect.

“Reporting a sexual assault or rape can be extremely difficult. We take all reports seriously and have trained staff who support victims through the process.”
