The incidents happened just 20 minutes apart

Two violent incidents that occurred in Finchley last evening (Thursday, September 12) within 20 minutes of each other were deadly crashes and stabbings. As far as MyLondon is aware, there is no suspicion that the two occurrences are related.

At 7:42 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to Colney Hatch Lane after a car struck advertising hoardings across from Powerleague Barnet.

The elderly driver was discovered to be unresponsive. Prior to paramedics arriving, police performed CPR on the individual, but he was declared dead at the site.

To find out if any further vehicles were involved, the Metropolitan Police have opened an inquiry. Colney Hatch Lane was temporarily closed, according to photos taken at the scene overnight. Officers searched the area while a forensic tent was set up.

Emergency services were called to a stabbing at King Street, which is located 1.3 miles southwest of the scene of the tragic crash, at 8:02 p.m., after just 20 minutes.

Along with medical and air ambulance teams, police arrived at the site quickly. A 30-year-old guy was attacked on neighbouring Church Lane and later discovered bleeding from stab wounds. It is not thought that his wounds are life-threatening.

The crime scene is still in front of the King Street Food & Wine store, and no arrests have been made as of yet.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “Police were called at 8.02pm on Thursday, September 12 to reports of a stabbing in King Street N2. Officers responded with LAS and London’s Air Ambulance.

“A 30-year-old man was found, who said he had been stabbed on nearby Church Lane. He was taken to hospital, where he remains. His condition was later assessed as not life-threatening.
