Steve Morison’s Sutton United moved out of the League Two relegation zone for the first time in 2024 after a 3-1 win over Swindon on Monday.

The former Millwall striker took over in mid-January after the U’s sacked long-standing boss Matt Gray, with Morison leaving non-league side Hornchurch to manage in the EFL.

Morison has claimed four wins on the bounce against Forest Green, Accrington Stanley, Salford and now Swindon to move out of the bottom two.

Charlie Lakin started the season on loan at League Two rivals AFC Wimbledon but was sent back to parent club Burton in January.

After that, the 24-year-old was sent to Sutton, where he has developed into a vital member of the team under Morison, tallying five goals and dishing out four assists in 17 games.
As the last few weeks of the League Two season approach, Sutton leads 23rd-place Colchester by one point despite Colchester having played three fewer games than them.
