Following an alleged incident in Yigo, one person is dead. However, the circumstances of his passing are still unknown. Given that they have been called to a second suspicious death in less than two days, Guam Police investigators are overworked.

Wednesday morning, there is a tremor in the Yigo neighbourhood on Chalan Donne. A crime scene is still in progress outside the front doors of the homes where residents wake up. One resident remarked, “It’s kind of scary that it happened 150 feet from my house.”

As first responders from the  Guam Fire Department removed a body from the house, neighbours stared in astonishment. KUAM has learnt that the man who was the anonymous victim was reportedly beaten to death.

For one spouse, this frightening news came as a shock.

Both unaware of the details of the incident unfolding in their midst as they hunkered down during the heavy winds and rain overnight.

“Very shocking! This island is becoming crazier. I feel like there’s a lot of dead bodies they’re finding all over the island now. But for one to be found right across from us, that’s… I don’t even know what else to say,” the resident said.

The death investigation comes less than 48 hours after detectives were at another crime scene about 14 minutes away in Dededo on Chalan Kareta.

As KUAM reported, local authorities are looking into the death of a Dededo man. His identity has also not yet been released. His body was found in a burning home late Monday afternoon.  No word if detectives are closer to solving the case.

In the meantime, several neighbors along the Yigo street tell KUAM News that they have no idea who the man could be. Still, others shared they witnessed heavy foot traffic in and out of the house.

The resident continued, “I’ve never seen them, never spoke to them. There are kids that walk up and down…when it was abandoned, there was music playing over there–no lights, it would catch our attention sometimes–but like I said, we keep to ourselves.”

It’s a chilling incident that has these residents even more closed off and guarded.  “This is a real eye-opener for her and me–because we were considering putting security cameras here–and now  I think we’re going to do it because I work in the evening, and I don’t like leaving my wife home alone,” said the neighbor.

Likewise, there’s been no indication on whether authorities have any leads. Speaking on behalf of the Guam Police, Officer Berlyn Savella stated that evidence collection is still ongoing and that the investigation is still in its early stages.
