Diego Gonzalez, a midfielder, and Obafemi Awodesu, a defender, were recruited by Houston Dynamo FC to a brief loan from Dynamo 2. Later today, when the Dynamo play St. Louis CITY SC in their Concacaf Champions Cup Round One series, both players will be available for selection. This marks the Dynamo’s 2024 campaign opener.
Awodesu just committed to Dynamo 2 for the 2024 season, with the option to stay with the team for the next season. After spending four years at Penn State, the defender won numerous individual and team awards, including two regular season championships.
Gonzalez extended his contract with Dynamo 2 through 2025 by resigning earlier this year. The midfielder helped Dynamo 2 win their second straight title last season with 13 goals and six assists postseason appearance.
