After playing his first complete ninety minutes in a Swindon Town shirt last weekend, Nnamdi Ofoborh has expressed his gratitude.

The 24-year-old, who was released by Scottish Premiership powerhouse Rangers at the beginning of the season, signed with The Robins at the end of March. He made his debut in the closing seconds of a 2-1 victory over Notts County.

He swiftly followed this up with starts against Sutton United and, most recently, Barrow, when he made his first appearance in a full game in more than three years.

After the 2-0 victory at Holker Street, the former Wycombe Wanderers player expressed his gratitude to the Wiltshire coaching staff for their belief in him in an interview with club media. “I think this is exactly what we deserve based on our performance today, but we will take that into next week’s game against AFC Wimbledon,” he stated.

“But we simply need to keep going. We have a strong squad here, so maybe we can build on that and have a successful season finale.

“As I mentioned earlier, I am just grateful to God and the coaching staff for believing in me. The players are also helping me get through these games, so hopefully we can continue.” “I didn’t think I would even be starting back-to-back games this soon.”

Author’s Perspective

Nnamdi Ofoborh has faced immense challenges during the past three years. It must have been difficult for him to be unable to play because of his ailment, but Swindon has allowed him to have another opportunity to play football. Gavin Gunning seemed happy with his efforts thus far and is undoubtedly enjoying having another option in the middle.

The Nigerian will likely be around next season and from what he has shown so far seems to still be displaying the potential Rangers saw in him three years ago. Whilst competition to start will be fierce, adding Ofoborh alongside Jake Cain and George McEachran, Swindon have a very exciting young midfield that will only have more room to grow going forward.
