After celebrating his 200th club appearance, captain Andy Yiadom, 32, was referred to by Reading manager Ruben Selles as “the dressing room.”

After missing Tuesday’s draw with Fleetwood Town, the Ghanaian international made a comeback from the starting position in Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

When the captain returned in 2018, he played for seventy-five minutes before being substituted with an eye towards Tuesday’s match against Port Vale.

Speaking following the loss, Selles praised Yiadom’s contribution to the team.

Selles remarked, “I think Andy IS the dressing room.” “He is the dressing room; that much is evident in his demeanour, method of operation, composure, and style of playing football. He is our leader for this reason, and the others all give him great compliments. We need to keep Andy healthy so that, ideally, he can play 200 more games and put on performances like these.”

In addition, Yiadom stated, “It’s a privilege, I’m really glad to have made it.”

Since Yiadom moved from Barnsley, only four players—none of whom are still in Berkshire—have appeared in more games for the team.

In 2022, Yiadom was named the team’s Player of the Season.
