Hull KR will discover the extent of Oliver Gildart’s knee injury in the next 24 hours – but Willie Peters has admitted that the centre may be facing a spell on the sidelines.
Gildart had to withdraw before Rovers’ victory over St Helens after suffering an injury in the warm-up. The England international was visibly disappointed as he headed down the tunnel and he has now had scans to determine the severity of the setback.
He has not been included in the club’s 21-man squad to face Warrington Wolves on Thursday and while Rovers remain hopeful, it appears that he is set for another period in the treatment room after a neck injury saw him miss four games.
Peters stated, “We’re just waiting on scans with Oli to confirm what it will be.” Thus, it is our hope that we will learn this afternoon. It will be early tomorrow morning if not. He’ll be gone for a while, so it’s possible. We’ll find out more tomorrow or this afternoon.
James Batchelor and Elliot Minchella both came off during the victory, with Peters indicating the Roers captain was more of a doubt of the two.
Peters stated, “He’s okay,” on Batchelor. “He experienced blurry vision after being jabbed in the eye. Things are starting to calm down. In the same way, we’ll have to wait until almost tomorrow to decide Mini’s fate before deciding who will play Warrington. Although we currently have him on the squad, we should probably wait another day or two before making a definitive choice.
There’s a chance he plays because he’s listed on the squad, but we won’t know for sure for another 24 hours. When we conduct more testing with them tomorrow, we’ll know more.
