The incident took place at the Great Burdon roundabout, on the A66 in Darlington

A Middlesbrough man has tragically died following a crash near Darlington. Officers were called to the A66 on Sunday morning after a white BMW 1 Series, travelling towards the town from Middlesbrough, was involved in a collision at the Great Burdon roundabout. The incident took place around 12.20am.
The driver and sole occupant of the car tragically died at the scene as a result of his injuries – and has now been named as 25-year-old Joseph Potts from Middlesbrough. Durham Constabulary is now appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the vehicle before the incident took place to get in touch. The force would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen the car before the incident.
