After being hit by a lorry on the M56 motorway, a man has passed away.

Yesterday evening, August 14, police were initially called to the motorway in response to’reports of a guy on the hard shoulder’ near the Manchester Airport exit, between junctions six and five. The 42-year-old pedestrian is thought to have been hit by a “articulated vehicle” that was going along the freeway at approximately 9 o’clock in the evening.

Sadly, he passed away right there. The event is being investigated to “understand the circumstances,” and his next of kin has been notified.

Last night, when emergency personnel responded, the entire eastbound section of the M56 was closed off. While accident investigation work was being done on the spot, the roadway remained closed throughout the night.

This morning at around 7.30 a.m., police reopened the road. Contacting Greater Manchester Police is advised for anyone who may have dash cam footage or who witnessed the event.
