Three months into the new season, the WIGAN WARRIORS and Wakefield Trinity’s dual-registration partnership came to an end earlier today.

Since neither team had fully made use of the alliance, the Warriors have now partnered with the Barrow Raiders.

The Warriors manager gave Wigan head coach Matt Peet an explanation for his “simple” decision-making, calling the two choices.

Peet clarified, “I’ve had open communication with Wakefield’s boss, Daryl Powell, throughout the entire year.”

In actuality, Wakefield has a superb team. It speaks highly of them and their goal that they are so driven that they most likely don’t currently require dual registration.

However, we have a great open communication connection with Wakefield.

“Barrow has always been a pleasure to work with, and we have a great deal of respect for their head coach Paul Crarey. They will give our players more opportunities.”

“Players who go on loan to Barrow consistently report back on the quality of care they received.”

“After two straightforward conversations, I believe sending our players to Barrow will be more beneficial for us.”

Some of Wigan’s transition players will get the chance to play competitive Rugby League and obtain regular first-team experience thanks to the partnership with the Championship club, which will aid in their development.

According to the agreement between the two teams, Wigan players will still be registered with both the Warriors and Barrow.

A Wigan player who registers with Barrow on a dual registration basis will be able to practise and play for both teams. The player is not allowed to play twice for Barrow and Wigan in the same weekend and is only allowed to participate in one match per scheduled round of games in any given week.
