Warrington Wolves boss Sam Burgess responds to South Rabbitohs speculation

Head coach of the WARRINGTON WOLVES Sam Burgess has categorically denied rumours that he would be joining the South Sydney Rabbitohs again.

After a disappointing start to the NRL season, the former England international is already being linked with a return to Redfern, even though he has only recently taken over at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

After the Rabbitohs’ three opening 2024 campaign losses, there have already been calls for Jason Demetriou’s resignation.

That has unavoidably connected Burgess to a comeback after he turned into the club’s poster child while he was a highly successful player.

Russell Crowe, co-owner of the Rabbitohs and a close friend of Burgess, will be in Warrington this summer. He will perform at Warrington Parr Hall on July 4, then travel to Dublin on July 1 and Paris on July 6.

That would only stoke rumours of Burgess and Souths getting back together, but the rookie coach has stated that he wants to stay on as Warrington’s head coach.

Burgess told BBC Radio Manchester, “He’s (Russell Crowe) really content, he’s happy I’m here and enjoying myself here.”

“I’ve been coaching this club for two years, and I love and enjoy being at Warrington. I’m happy where I am.”

At the moment, Burgess and Warrington are leading the Super League and are in the Challenge Cup quarterfinals.
