After Charlie Goode leaves Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday may look to sign him, according to a report by The Star.
In order to prepare for another season in the Championship after making it through the previous one, Sheffield Wednesday is looking to add some new players this summer. Their position has been greatly strengthened by Danny Rohl’s decision to stay and sign a new contract.
After being let go by Brentford, Goode, 28, will have to make a significant choice about his future as a free agent this summer. After spending the second part of the previous season on loan at League One’s Wigan Athletic, he went on to make 13 appearances across all competitions.
According to The Star, he might become available to the Owls as they look to add players before the next season. His contract with the Bees officially expires at the end of June.
Goode may be seen by Sheffield Wednesday as a way to give their defence more depth and competition.
They won’t need to pay a transfer fee to entice him to South Yorkshire because he is available for nothing.
After leaving Brentford, he recently spoke out on X, saying, “It’s been a difficult few years since I arrived. Sometimes things just don’t work out for many reasons.” I’m excited for the upcoming chapter and feel better than ever! Best wishes for the future to you.
Goode was cleared to join Wigan Athletic in January in order to gain some experience in a game before returning to the Gtech Community Stadium in the middle of April due to an injury.
After leaving Scunthorpe United to sign with Northampton Town in 2019, he played 45 games for the Cobblers in League Two before earning a transfer to the Bees.
The Watford was a member of the London outfrit’s squad that was promoted to the Premier League in 2021, and they have been on their books for the past four years.
He has only made 20 appearances for the London team, though, and he has also been loaned to Blackpool and Sheffield United.
Sheffield Wednesday latest
Over the next few months, Sheffield Wednesday must make sure that they hire the right people.
If they were to bring Goode to Hillsborough, they would have another option at the back to choose from in an effort to avoid suffering through another season in the second division.
