Chris Conn-Clarke is a treasured asset that Altrincham says they won’t be compelled to sell for pennies on the dollar.
With 23 goals and 12 assists this season, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been one of the National League’s standouts.

Numerous EFL clubs have expressed interest in it, including the Latics and teams from as high as the Championship, according to reports.

Wigan Today is aware that Latics are only showing a very slight interest at this time and aren’t among the teams that have tried their luck with other teams yet.

Although Shaun Maloney, the boss, is keeping an eye on the market, it’s unclear how things will pan out as more clubs get ready to make an announcement.

Football director at Altrincham Rob Esteva told “Radio Alty” that “everyone knows it’s going to be difficult for us to keep Chris, but it has to be right for the club as well as for him.” “A few proposals have already been made to us, but they have been rejected.

The fact is that if teams don’t offer us something in line with our valuation—and the ones we’ve received thus far don’t come close—we won’t let him go. We aren’t requesting outrageous sums of money; rather, we are merely valuing Chris fairly in light of the fact that he has outperformed a great number of other players.

“If he does leave, it will be very sad, but we always support ourselves, and I’m sure we will have one of the best attacks in the division next season, Chris or not.”

Conn-Clarke, who came up through the ranks at Linfield and Glentoran, was awarded the National League player of the year for 2023–2024. He has represented Northern Ireland at the Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 levels.

After stints at Chorley (loan) and Fleetwood Town, he came to Burnley in 2018 as a scholar. However, in summer, he made a club-record switch to Altrincham.

Thus far in the off-season, Latics have brought in two players: Calvin Ramsay, a defender from Liverpool, and Michael Olakigbe, a winger for Brentford. Both players have season-long contracts.
