After being released, a player of Pompey’s 2018–19 EFL trophy-winning squad must locate a new club.
Omar Bogle, a former striker for Pompey, was informed that his contract will not be renewed, therefore becoming a free agent.

On Wednesday, May 8, Newport County informed Bogle and the other seven players that they would no longer require his services. With 32 appearances last season, the 30-year-old finished with eight goals and four assists before leaving Rodney Parade.

He made 86 total appearances for the Exiles—the most of any player for any club—scoring 27 goals while helping them to finish between 15th and 18th in League Two. “The club would like to thank all departing players for their service and commitment to the club and wish them well for the future,” the Welsh team wrote in a farewell statement to Bogle.

During the second part of the 2018–19 season, Bogle made 14 appearances for Pompey and scored four goals under Kenny Jackett. Pompey led the league when he arrived, but they finished fourth and lost 1-0 overall to Sunderland.

Despite this, he did win the EFL Trophy earlier in the season. Oliver Hawkins replaced him after 69 minutes of play. In front of 85,021 spectators, Pompey emerged victorious 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in which Lee Cattermole cost the Black Cats the trophy.

Following his spell at Fratton Park, he made 11 appearances for parent club Cardiff City before being sent on loan to ADO Den Haag, where he was managed by Alan Pardew. In 2020, he made a permanent move from Cardiff to join Charlton Athletic. He then played for Hartlepool United and Doncaster Rovers before joining Newport in Wales.
