Speaking publicly about the team’s intentions for the summer transfer window, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil acknowledged that his team “don’t have to” do one important thing that alarmed many supporters the previous year.

After the difficulties of the previous window, Gary O’Neil wants to bolster his team, so Wolves are ready for a busy summer at Molineux.

O’Neill would not have been able to lead the current team to the heights they have reached this season without Julen Lopetegui’s departure, but it has recently appeared as though Wolves’ luck has run out in terms of the team being able to maintain form amid injury woes. The summer of 2023 was difficult for the Old Gold, who offloaded key players to generate profit amid financial pressures, leading to the Spaniard’s exit.

The boss hasn’t seen his team win in their past three Premier League encounters, which have coincided with significant absences. Pedro Neto, Hwang Hee-chan, and Matheus Cunha’s injuries have all affected the attack in particular.

Even though the Brazilian has now made a full recovery, O’Neil has expressed some irritation with the board over their lack of assistance in January, which may have avoided the present difficulties, in response to the recent outcomes.

He then vented his frustrations about the size of his team before the topic of Wolves needing to restock in the summer came up again.

O’Neil has now talked with some assurance ahead of the transfer window, despite the fact that the conversation following the draw with Burnley had a sour vibe as the manager tries to sustain form with such a depleted squad.

The manager said that the team had “already spoken” about one major goal heading into the summer, as reported by Express & Star.

“The club has already discussed the possibility of doing some business; we don’t have to lose one of our more valuable ones to reinvest,” the statement reads.

We might simply stay the same and keep everyone together, as you can see from the accomplishments we’ve made this year with a small group. Alternatively, it could be appropriate for us to do some business and attempt to increase our numbers.

Wolves will be relieved to have a different summer compared to last year

Many will be relieved by O’Neil’s remarks, considering that the squad has suffered because of the shortages that began in the summer of 2023.

Any team would find it impossible to lose players as important as Matheus Nunes and Ruben Neves and continue playing without a suitable replacement for their presence or calibre.

The club is thought to have succeeded in balancing the finances at the time, despite the fact that the team began to deteriorate in 2023–2024 due to low sales.

In order to maintain Wolves in the top division and ensure that the team competes in the top half of the Premier League the entire season, Fosun needs to now recognise O’Neil for his outstanding effort.

Considering the amount of conjecture that has already surfaced, it is comforting to know that the team is actively working to keep their best players on the team, providing O’Neil with the opportunity to advance even farther the next campaign.
