We now see an opportunity for Boulaye Dia to return and contribute before the end of the season at Salernitana, despite several headlines claiming that he will be sidelined until June due to the aftermath from the Wolverhampton Wanderers bid.
This information was provided by their manager Fabio Liverani during a press conference on Saturday prior to the matchup with Cagliari.
According to Salernitana News, the 47-year-old was confronted with the Wolves target from the previous summer, who had declined to play against Udinese last weekend.
He murmured, “Dia? Decisions were made at their meeting with the president. In my opinion, the door was open, he arrived, and we made everything clear. We can all make mistakes in life, but for me, that’s the end of it.It is customary for the owner to set an example. Personally, I don’t have any issues with Dia. We’ll find out soon enough whether he can be reinstated, but the president ultimately has the final say on this matter.
Dia will now need to decide whether to wait it out and expect to be sold in the summer, or try to work hard to convince everyone he can be of service before the end of the season. It looks like Liverani is currently trying to calm things down surrounding Dia.
It’s unclear if Gary O’Neill and Wolves still want him, but one thing seems certain: he will cost a lot less than he did last summer, especially if Salernitana is looking to get rid of him.
