To replace Casemiro this summer, Manchester United intends to spend £40 million on midfielder Joao Gomes of Wolverhampton Wanderers. According to reports, Gomes has been watched by the Red Devils. He may make his Brazil debut against England.

Since Casemiro is probably going to leave this summer, United is looking for a defensive midfield player. Gomes, who is said to be worth £40 million, is someone they might replace.

Scouts from United have observed the 23-year-old multiple times this season, most notably during Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Fulham earlier this month. Gomes, who cost £12 million when he signed with Wolves from Flamengo in January of last year, is anticipated to receive his first cap for Brazil on Saturday at Wembley against England.

Trained as ‘The Pitbull’ in Brazil, he has also drawn interest from Newcastle and Tottenham. Gomes is expected to be sought after this summer, and Wolves have already begun the process of finding a successor in case they decide to move him.

Gomes scored both goals in Wolves’ victory over Spurs last month and looked impressive when Wolves defeated Manchester City 2-1 earlier in the season, according to the Mirror. This action is in line with the goals of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new shareholder who is in charge of football operations and wants to cut back on spending astronomical sums of money on star players.

With 83 tackles this season, Gomes is third in the Premier League. His work ethic and ability to win balls make him the perfect midfield partner for Kobbie Mainoo, a rising star for both United and England.

In addition to Gomes, United has been monitoring Pedro Neto, a winger for Wolves, as a possible replacement for £85 million failure Antony. This summer, United is open to receiving bids for Antony, and Neto has surfaced as a possible target since Marcus Rashford’s future is unclear and PSG intends to pursue him once more.

The 24-year-old Neto, who paid £16 million to join Wolves from Lazio in 2019, has also been linked to moves to Liverpool and Arsenal.
