According to reports, Wolverhampton Wanderers are debating whether to formally approach a Championship striker.
The West Midlands team signed players including Pedro Lima, Rodrigo Gomes, and Jorgen Strand Larsen during their active summer transfer window debut.
Gary O’Neil has not seen the need to rush any more business, given a number of players have already returned to the team after stints on loan abroad.
However, more new players should eventually arrive at Molineux as a centre-back and center-midfielder are still reportedly on the club’s radar.
Chiquinho and Daniel Podence, among others, participated in preseason, so Wolves have plenty of options in the final third going into their Premier League debut against Arsenal on August 17.
However, according to Tutto Mercato Web, Wolves are still interested in securing the services of another player for the middle of their attack.
Latte Lath noticed by the Wolves
According to the article, Wolves have reportedly added Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath to their shortlist of prospective additions before the transfer season closes.
The 25-year-old scored 16 goals in 30 games during his debut season of Championship football, including an incredible eight goals in six games towards the conclusion of the season.
The Ivory Coast international is under contract with Middlesbrough until 2027, but the club will undoubtedly be receiving bids for a player who scored 14 goals in the Swiss Super League the previous campaign.
At this point, Monaco is purportedly the team that is most interested in Latte Lath, though Red Bull Salzburg is also keeping an eye on the matter.
It is said that Middlesbrough will demand in excess of €10m (£8.59m) if any club firms up their admiration of the frontman in due course.
Should the Wolves bring in a player similar to Latte Lath?
It was widely reported that Wolves’ lack of options in the closing third during the second half of the previous season was a result of injuries to Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan.
But with Strand Larsen added, O’Neil now has three players that can be used in the middle, with Chiquinho and Podence offering additional coverage on the wings.
In the upcoming weeks, Wolves may lose one or both of those players, which would provide them an excuse to join the market again. Goncalo Guedes’ future also needs to be decided.
As it stands, there are nine players providing competition for places in the final third, so acquiring Latte Lath at this stage may not be at the top of Wolves’ priorities.
