Three of Phil Parkinson’s main Wrexham players have received an update on their injuries ahead of their EFL Trophy matchup with Salford City.

After five games, Wrexham leads the division, demonstrating an incredible start to life in League One.

The Reds’ most recent success came on Saturday against Shrewsbury Town, a local rival, and Phil Parkinson’s team now has 13 points out of a possible 15.

A number of players were singled out for recognition; Ryan Barnett, a wing-back, proved to be unstoppable with his play, and Jack Marriott netted his third goal of the year.

As a Wrexham fan, there is much to be happy about as they still have an undefeated record and many of their talents are excelling in the third division; but, Parkinson’s injury update is a drawback.

Ahead of Salford City, Phil Parkinson provides an update on the crucial Wrexham trio.
Wrexham’s EFL Trophy campaign will begin on Tuesday night at the Racecourse Ground when they host Salford City.

Parkinson’s team hopes to open the season with a victory over Port Vale, Salford, and the Wolves under-21 team in the group that the Reds are in.
Andy Cannon, who started the previous four games but was pulled out of the squad entirely, also received an update, but it was clarified that he was merely experiencing mild exhaustion.

Parkinson stated, “James [McClean] played with an injection in his foot on Saturday,” in an interview with The Leader. He was not in the gym all week. He needs to take some time off because he took a hard blow to his foot.

“It’s imperative that Elliott Lee see a specialist.” Nothing major, but we still need to talk to him about anything.
To give his important first-team players a break, the Wrexham manager will make numerous changes for the game, some of which will be enforced.

Parkinson disclosed that midfielder Elliot Lee’s knock is “nothing serious,” but he does need to visit a specialist. Captain James McClean, on the other hand, played with an injection in his foot during Saturday’s victory and “needs a period of rest.”

“There are a few things we need to work out, but overall, it’s a great chance for people to get some time together.”

“Andy isn’t serious,” the Reds manager went on. He had a fitness test on Saturday, but there was no need to put him at danger because we have a lot of options and some excellent players.

“I expect him to return next week, but he has a minor issue that causes his hamstrings to tighten up when he gets tired. We can manage his workload though.”
